"We understand and believe in the eternal nature of the family. This understanding and belief should inspire us to do everything in our power to establish a Christ-centered home" -Pres. Maynes

As I listened to this during the afternoon session of Saturday's General Conference, I reflected on the things my parents did to establish a Christ-centered home. Growing up we held Family Home Evenings, each taking turn in rotation to teach the lesson. I also remember from a young age singing hymns in Samoan & memorizing the 13 Articles of Faith, Prophets, and numerous scriptures. Then when I was about nine, our Home Teacher (now Bishop) and his wife challenged us to memorize the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles too. We would recite those almost daily & still do. My siblings & I were raised in the Church and have each gained a testimony of our own. A lot of which I believe comes from the teachings we were taught in the home
"Parents teach children with words and through their examples"
We've been blessed to be born unto good & faithful parents who taught us to hold fast to the gospel. Our Mom always taught through words & strong example, even still today. Dad was quiet, but you could see the humility and immense example of love and strength penetrating from him so when he did speak, (to me) it was powerful. I'm forever grateful to have had parents that strived to establish, as Pres. Maynes shared, a Christ-centered home & I wouldn't take back the experiences that have shaped the individuals we are today.

....Best Vacation Ever!

Last weekend Sheryl & I had the opportunity to head up to Utah :) Little did we know, one blessing after another was going to fall into place. Hence- Best Vacation Ever! We got little to no sleep but it was worth it- no doubt.

So many blessings fell into place when it seemed like things were never going to work out. Literally. One thing would occur on top of another. Yet, everything frustrating that happened would lead to something good and I was amazed by how well everything fell into place perfectly. Even if at the time it didn't seem like things were worth it, they definitely were. This is a trip I'll never forget & I'm grateful we decided go. Just being up in Salt Lake and feeling the Spirit so strong is something I'll always remember & hope to share with my own family one day. This trip enabled me to reflect on many things about myself-- who I am and who I want to be.
