Today was definitely not the greatest day with my Primary class. Actually let me rephrase that- today was a horrible day! Kids can be cruel. To the point of tears. I do not like when kids make other kids cry. AT ALL. Especially if they're not 3 year old Sunbeams.
Last Sunday things weren't too bad, even with all five boys. I kept the peace. So today did I expect that with just 3 boys and 1 girl that things would get crazy? No. I will name them Child A-D. Child A who happens to be visiting.
Things were already off to a bad start between Child A (visitor) and Child B before we even had an opening prayer. Before! Child B intentionally upset Child A by calling them something (no I will not say what, but it wasn't foul). Really now? C'mon! Now who do I call on for the opening prayer? Child A? Nope, still upset. Child B? Maybe. Child C? No- they randomly laugh in the middle of their prayer for no reason. No need to disrupt the class even more. Or Child D? No- the poor kid was called on every week for the past 4 weeks. Child B it was. Just so you know, when called on Child B usually changes attitude immediately and is willing to be helpful and polite. No such luck today.
Last week during Gabe's (who is back home in Texas, miss him) prayer he sincerely prayed that they, as a class, would be reverent. In the middle of Child B's prayer today this was said, "Please help Child A be reverent today". Was that really necessary to specifically mention Child A's name only?! Bad idea. Soon enough, immediately after 'amen' was said, Child A (with clenched fists) says something along the lines of:
"Can I hit Child B?" No you may not.
"Can I throw this chair at Child B?" No.
"Can I throw Child C at Child B?" No.
While this is happening Child B and C are laughing hysterically. Even after I say stop they continue to do so because they know it's upsetting Child A. After I settle them down on to the lesson we go! From then on all was wonderful! Not.
Ten minutes into the lesson I hear laughing....again. Fake laughing. You've got to be kidding me. I look up and Child B is taunting Child A with the "Oh is this bothering you? I don't care" look. Child A gives the death glare. Child B cut it out. Hey Child A, don't even look that way. Ignore Child B and C please. Child B and C, I already asked you politely to stop. Knock it off. Ok ok, we're done. Sike. Right back at it less than 5 minutes later!
This time Child B takes a chair down and places it between he and Child A. Next thing I know both Child A and B are pulling the chair away from each other using their feet, in which Child A begins to kick Child B. Unacceptable! Child B, put the chair back up NOW. Child A face forward with both legs AND feet in front of you. Child B and Child C begin laughing again. Child A: "They're only laughing because Child B called me a blahblahblah earlier!" What the? Completely forgot that happened. Hahahaha we didn't even remember that until just now! Then ensued more laughter. "Can I throw this chair at Child B?!" NO. Can I shoot Child B?!" NO and that's not nice at all. "I wish I had a real gun to shoot him!" Child B and Child C burst into laughter. I was not happy at all. STOP. NOW. They stop and just as I get back to the lesson I hear one tiiiiny giggle from Child B and that finally did it. Child A's head began to bow and tears came pouring out. Great. Notice how I haven't mentioned Child D at all? Child D will you please sit between them? Yes. As Child D sits down I hear Child D say to B, "Stop it. Now." Not once did I see or hear Child D make fun or laugh at anyone. Such a sweetheart.
I stopped my lesson, pulled out a picture of Christ and placed in on the board. If he were standing right HERE would any of you be doing what you're doing now? "No- we would be good" You're still in the House of the Lord so why are you acting like this? *Silence* You realize Satan is smiling right now because of the way you guys are behaving? Especially in Church? "Oh" Then Child A, "I don't care! Child B and Child C are bi-" DON'T YOU DARE FINISH THAT WORD. "I wish I had a real gun!" No, you don't. You shouldn't wish anything like that on anyone ESPECIALLY if He *pointing at the pic* were here.
Fast forward to singing and sharing time in Primary. No one wanted to sit near Child A. Child C argued with me, saying no. Sorry, you have no choice. Sit. "But I don't want to!" As soon as that was said, there were tears pouring from Child A. It hurt me to see this happening and I was more than disappointed with the way my class was treating Child A who was visiting. Visiting! I was thinking how that must have been making Child A feel. Not a good idea because it made me feel worse. How many times have we had examples of how we would treat a visitor who didn't know anyone? I even asked that in class and Child B said, "Nicely and be their friend." WELL?!?!! I have never seen nor heard them act so rude. So frustrating! Especially when it's a visitor! Child A clenched his fists then began making gun gestures at both B and C. I pulled him out and we walked around the building. Every time we passed a picture on the wall (which are large) Child A would say, "This will do! I can throw and hit them with this!" NO. By the time we went back to Primary I almost burst into tears. I was so frustrated and disappointed. As we were walking out after the closing prayer Child A said, "I'm glad this is my last Sunday here! I never want to come back again. Next year, I'm just going to stay at the house if we come to church here." All I could do was give Child A a hug and say I was sorry. I was at a loss for more comforting words.
Disappointment. I love the kids in my class and that is not how they normally behave themselves. Honestly we ask this all the time (sometimes people joke about it) but really, "What would Jesus do?" I can tell you this- not that ^

....The Terminator
In Primary today we were singing 'Praise to the Man' when we got to the end of the chorus and sang, "Death cannot conquer the hero again". Not two seconds later- we hear 4 year old Brandon exclaim, "IT'S LIKE THE TERMINATOR!"
I love when the little ones make me laugh :)

....That Awkward Moment When....
You realize a customer who comes into the bank (which you don't really like) is your neighbor. Of course you find this out after you give him a dirty look for parking in the middle of the street, leaving you no way to go around him on either side, when you're trying to rush to work.
Dislike even more now.
HA.

....Gotta Love The Children
Primary: Some things you just gotta laugh at.
After reading Matthew 25: 35&36 where it says, "For I was hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink..."
So they provided Him with what? Starts with an 'S'...(looking for 'service')
Josh- Drink.
What would be considered immodest?
Maia- Something that shows your shoulders and armpits.
What would be good to watch that is pleasing to Heavenly Father?
Keegan- Veggie Tales.
What music is good that we can listen to?
David- JUSTIN BIEBER!
If the kids answered a question they got "CTR rocks" to fill up their team cup. Caleb was upset he wasn't called on to answer...
Caleb- She didn't pick me. I'm leaving.
He stood up and marched right out of Primary. He's 4.

....Oh Brother
It was a certain someone's birthday on Friday and I wonder who that someone might be?!
oh yeah, THIS guy
(aren't we cute?)
Happy birthday to the best brother in the world!
Growing up he was always the example. Looking back, I honestly have no idea how he had enough patience for the stunts and attitude I pulled. We've argued, had pleeeenty of laughs, teased Lizzy, and oh so much more. My brother has hit me once in my life....once. The funniest thing is that I asked for it. Literally.
{he totally loves me}
I didn't realize how much he makes things seem better until he left on his mission for 2 years. I remember when he got home he was so...nice. He didn't get mad, he didn't yell. Nothing. It drove me nuts! So being the wonderful sister I am, I would intentionally do anything and I mean ANYTHING to make him mad. Needless to say, the person Chris is, it took a LONG time. He is patient, loving, humble, talented, loves our family, but most of all- loves the gospel. To be honest, I couldn't have asked for a better brother.
i still don't know why he liked that hair...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HERMANO!
