We had a good laugh about how random our group was. Some were into art, others into sports, some were even nerds, while others were in band or choir. It was a mix! We're amazed at how different things were when we were in sixth grade compared to those today. We didn't have cell phones, boyfriends, or start physical fights because someone said so and so's hair looked ugly. We were different. I loved my friends because they weren't judgmental. Instead, they were genuinely nice because they cared.
When I was in middle school, my parents either didn't know Converse shoes existed or didn't bother with them. I don't know haha. Anyways, all my friends had them except for me. Lo and behold for Christmas or my birthday (I can't remember which), I unwrapped a box to find a brand new pair of navy blue Converse! As we were chatting Friday night, J said, "It was a mission to get you those Converse! We all pitched in from our lunch money & stuff to get them for you." I never knew that. I'm thinking to myself...that was middle school...we didn't get a lot of money for lunch....and they did that for me? I told you they cared. It's been several years, but I'm grateful for their selflessness. C'mon lunch money? How many people would give up food?! My friends were the greatest.
I told the girls, "Honestly, I got lucky to have friends like you." And I mean it. I didn't just have friends- I had good friends. Those who were humble, kind, smart and downright hilarious. Whoever says you can't be friends with different people is wrong. I've been there, done that. It's possible. As J said later, it was a blessing. If I could go back in time, I would pick them again. No doubt about it.
Yeah, I don't know why it has the white background like that up there.
